Lindsay & Eric

Just a few reasons why this wedding was so great: first of all Linds and Eric are madly in LOVE, it was @ St. Clements Castle, the rain held off for pics in the patio, THE DRESS, the girls looked smashing, the men looked dashing, LOTS of champagne, rich fall colors and FLOWERS, the officiant was hilarious, Dad's sweet ol' cars, the INTRODUCTION surprise dances, they were ROASTted and TOASTed, crazy fun music, the bride and groom have great SMILES, the guests danced ALL night, MONKEY masks, the bridal party put the awe in AWESOME and did I say Lindsay and Eric are madly in LOVE?! Yes, so that all equals up to a GIANT blog post:

Summer Salt

A look into my recent stay in Wellfleet, Cape Cod. I love the charm and character of my cousin's cottage rental, the beauty of the shoreline (that included a visit from a dozen seals) and the company of people who appreciate it all as much as I do.

Provincetown, where did you go?

An afternoon on the bayside of Ptown. The sky went from grey to blue, every changing minute of fog and light was beautiful in it's own simple way.

Doors of Cape Cod

Strolling down Commercial Street in Provincetown, keep your eyes peeled (as my dad would say) because there are so many beautiful little details that might pass you by. One subject matter I took an interest to over my past few visits, is the doors. Front doors, doorways, garage doors fence doors and more...it's cool to see homeowners take a creative hand to the face of their house!

This red door w/ the painting to the side is a gallery in downtown Wellfleet.

A detail of a garage door. The house itself was purple, of course!

Oh, to come home and walk in to a beautiful bayside view!

This just seemed to be out of a cute storybook!

Zach

Taking Zach's senior portraits really brought back some memories. I remember most of my friends dreaded the day they had to get their photo taken, myself included. We were just talking about those awkward poses and props of the 90's *picturing of my bro chillin on a mirror w/ a laser background, haha!* My shoot w/ Zach seemed natural and easy, wandering around his yard while chatting about Blink 182 and Weezer, we had a good time. His girlfriend was there, so we included her too. They really should win class couple, so cute together! I love them sitting on the bench and his lacrosse pics by his "goalie"....

A Happy 90th Birthday!

The best thing about being a photographer is getting to witness the pure love and happiness that family and friends have for one another. With any special occasion, I think the proof is in the small stuff, the smiles, laughs and hugs or the homemade cookies and handmade centerpieces that add a personal touch of charm! Marge's surprise party was simply wonderful. Everyone from the young to the old, was just bursting with love! I'm so lucky to know them, as they always make me feel like I'm a part of the family. These are some of my favorite moments from the day....

p.s. I won!

A couple weeks later, I received an email from Bob Harrington, New Haven's Photo Walk leader, saying: "The winner of the New Haven Photowalk is Taryn Allison for “Twenty.” I chose this shot based on my initial reaction. I loved the color, lighting, composition, and creativity."
I was so thrilled! It was a pleasure to just enjoy the company of other photographers, the summer weather and beauty of the city, so this was the cherry on top! I'm psyched to receive my prize, Scott Kelby's new book, The Digital Photography Book, Vol. 3. THANK YOU!

The gloves caught my eye right away. They weren't just a dirty object left on the ground, but sort of a story, remnants of a long hard day on the job. The glowing sun lit the ground softly and I loved the juxtaposition of the gloves and my hot pink toes. Also, if you've seen some of my travel posts before, I get a kick out of taking a pic of my feet at each of my new environments, so here was my humorous opportunity I thought!
